“Hi, is this pet-friendly?” If you often make texts and/or calls to check with eateries if they can accommodate your furry best friend, say goodbye to that.

With the rise of animal-centric malls like One Holland Village, there is now a bigger pool of Pet-friendly Places to choose from. But where ah? Fret not, I gotcha. As a pet owner myself, I have experienced the struggle of searching for places, or rather opportunities, to eat outside with my beloved dog (who will excitedly follow me at the mention of “going out”).

Therefore, my family and I have made it a point to source new spots every month. We have successfully collated a lengthy list for our (and now, your) reference. Taking factors such as space, comfort, accessibility and most importantly, yummy-ness into consideration, here are 17 Pet-friendly Places for a Paw-some Meal.

Sawadee ka, we are just getting started.

For those who frequent that ark-like building situated next to Buona Vista MRT, this vibrant restaurant should not be unfamiliar to you. Starring a cosy al fresco dining area with glimmering fairy lights, Warm Up Cafe at Star Vista serves authentic Thai cuisine till 3am. Congrats, another spot to satisfy your late-night supper pangs.

Served in Small (S$1.90) and Regular (S$8.90), do not miss a share of their tangy Boat Noodle (Pork/ Beef) too.

Choose from a versatile range of 6 noodles, including Mee Kia and Tang Hoon, to customise the guay tiew reua to your preference!

Spot me on weekends, my personal favourite is the Grilled Sweet Pork (S$6.90), otherwise known by natives as mu ping. This honey-glazed pork on skewers is a mouth-watering treat that I dream about.

2. Toto Seafood

Get HUAT from this.

Named after the owner’s adorable dog, Toto, Toto Seafood at Geylang is easily one of the most memorable stalls you will ever visit. Hard to come by ah…This is a pet-friendly zi char place! Decorated with doggy decor, it boasts a spacious compound that includes a huge grass patch for furkids to frolic around.

If this does not scream “PETS ALLOWED”, I don’t know what does. Aside from their fin-tastic offerings such as the 1-for-1 Chilli/ Black Pepper Crab Promo (S$88), what really reeled me in were the quirky dish names. Okay, hear this out.

Downright addictive, the WEN U WANT 2 BEEHOON? (S$15/S$20) is Toto’s signature san low fried bee hoon. Meanwhile, BA-BA-BLACK-BEAN (S$18/S$24) features a silky plate of hor fun topped with tender Black Bean Beef. HAHAH. How about THE CHEONG GUY (S$18/ S$24)? That’s easy to figure out (har cheong gai).

Oh, the Teochew Titanic is perfect for rainy days. From S$58, this charcoal-fried Teochew-style Fish Head Steamboat is priced according to your fish of choice – think fresh Wild White Snapper or Wild Chinese Pomfret in rich oceanic broth.

With the overarching belief of “JIAK LIAO TIO TOTO”, customers will receive a TOTO ticket after each meal! So try lor.

3. Ten+

This is the most hidden of all hidden gems.

Emphasised by their foldable chairs and brass lanterns, Ten+ at Sungei Tengah is a safari-themed bistro that provides a camp-like dining experience for diners to escape Singapore’s concrete jungle. The good food makes up for its ulu location though.

Bringing the best of Western and Eastern cuisine, the bistro has a diverse menu that includes All-Day Brunchthat will leave your tastebuds singing for more. Step away from your usual Full English Breakfast and meet the Asian Style Big Breakfast (S$18)!

Served with nutty furikake rice and crispy chicken cutlet, it also has a side of achar, ikan bilis, sambal dip, pickled cucumber slices and fluffy scrambled eggs.Sound familiar? Yes, this is inspired by the Nasi Lemak that we know and love. BTW, the furikake rice was to die for.

If this brunch delight is not hearty enough for you, the highly-raved Torched Aburi Prawn Pasta (S$23) will be. Topped with tobiko and shredded seaweed, this creamy linguine pasta in Prawn Bisque features scallops and succulent Tiger Prawns that are, well, torched to perfection.

Another option will be their signature Baked Barramundi with Sambal Aioli (S$23), layered on velvety Pumpkin Butternut Puree and tangy tomato salsa.

What’s a bistro without drinks? Raise your glass to Craft Beers like Lychee Lager (S$15) or Jasmine & Passion Fruit Wheat Beer (S$15).

4. Guriru

“Pet-friendly” and “BBQ” are rarely used in the same sentence.

Not here. Guriru at Outram Park is a Hamayaki-inspired Japanese BBQ Grill helmed by the acclaimed Chef Teppei Yamash*ta. “Take your pick of the freshest seafood, and we’ll Live Grill it to perfection for you”, the poolside grill that closely resembles Tokyo’s Tsukiji Fish Market has 2 menus: À la Carte Dinner Menu and Buffet Dinner Menu.

I’ll take you through the latter first. Guriru’s Buffet is a 90-minute All-You-Can-Eat at S$38++ per pax. Go ham with unlimited Kushiyaki Skewers and Grill Specials – just to name a few, Chicken Tsukune Meatball, Kurobuta Pork Belly, Saba/ Japanese Mackerel, Mentaiko Tamagoyaki and Pork Jowl with Wasabi Salt.

The list goes on, and I know that you are drooling like me now.

To complete your meal, opt for free-flow Mains like savoury Truffle Cream Udon with Mixed Seafood (U.P. S$25) and indulge in their 12-Item Salad Bar. Bottoms up. If you’re feeling it, top up an additional S$38 to cleanse your palate with some Sapporo Dry or Ginger Ale. Mmm.

As for the À la Carte Dinner Menu, the citrusy Hyogo Oyster with Ponzu (S$27) is a must-try. Not to forget their hot-favourite Guriru Special Wagyu Fried Rice (S$25) as well!

Free parking for diners? No kidding, Guriru is on my family’s “To Go” List.

5. House of Seafood

Seafood aficionados, two time’s a charm.

Infamous for leashing crabs for a walk and allowing customers to catch live crabs using a claw machine a few years ago, House of Seafood at The Punggol Settlement has profusely apologised after public backlash and emerged as the Most Popular Food Stall” at the APAC Food & Beverage Expo 2024.

Surprise surprise, they are now having a S$29 Crab Promo (U.P. S$88). Luxuriously doused in sensuous sauces, this includes their piece de resistanceAward-Winning Chilli Crab and Signature Salted Egg Crab that is recommended for kids. Expect a variety of Seasonal Priced seafood – not only Crab, but Lobster, Fish and even Geoduck. You name it, they got it.

This family-centred restaurant also has other zi char dishes! Try the best-selling Fresh Vermicelli Noodles with Fresh Crab Meat (S$18/ S$24/ S$30) or the Signature Pork Ribs with Chef’s Special Sauce (S$20/ S$28/ S$34).

I got my eyes on this. Tie it back with XO Drunken Prawns in Claypot (S$28/ S$38/ S$48). Steeped in a blend of nutritional herbs such as Angelica, Yu Zhu and Goji Berry, this is described as “a 1000-year-old dish” that features prawns fermented in traditional 花雕酒 (Chinese rice wine).

Pop by after a nice walk or cycle, its seafront view overlooks the Straits of Johor.

6. W39 Bistro & Bakery

Uh-oh, the West’s best-kept secret is out.

Sporting a bright yellow and baby blue facade, W39 Bistro & Bakery at West Coast is a humble yet cheerful cafe that is popular among furkids and pawrents. Why? They have menus for both pets and people.

Start your day with the Bread Basket (S$8), an assortment of handmade breads that complements their handmade spreads coffee butter, mango kaya and gula melaka. Or perhaps go all out with The Lazy Couple’s Brunch for 2 (S$48). Neatly showcased on a wooden board, this is made for a hungry couple not a lazy one.

On top of 2 complimentary drinks of your choice, the Couple’s Brunch has 2 Grilled King Prawns and 2 Sourdough Toasts accompanied by the likes of buttery scrambled eggs, piquant Ebiko Sambal Mayo and Shakshuka. The best things come in pairs.

My fellow sweet tooths, take a look at their Drinks & Desserts Menu and you won’t be disappointed.

Flaunting a lovely array of “award-winning” handmade cakes, to put it simply, the menu suggests what cake goes with which drink. For example, the earthy Matcha Black Sesame (S$8.50) goes especially well with a cuppa Iced Matcha Gula Melaka (S$6.50)!

Not forgetting our furry friends, the cafe has 100% Human Grade Pet Friendly Meals; I appreciate that the menu not only specifies the dishes’ benefits but the ingredients used.

7. Dough

Another must-go place. Seriously, one of my top favourites.

I can only describe this as chio. As comforting as their polar bear mascot, visiting Dough at CHIJMES feels like falling into a warm embrace over and over again. Bedecked with low-hanging plants and lights, their al fresco dining area has ample space, light and breeze. I live at the cushioned seating area with my dog LOLOL.

“Dough – Deceptively simple, yet it is the start of everything.” At Dough, every dish encapsulates that.

Let’s settle with something simple. With our preferred dip being Hot Honey Butter over Mentaiko, the Tater Tots (S$11) will heal your inner child. Sweet and savoury with a tinge of spice, I never seem to get enough of these deep-fried hash browns. Getting comfortable? Fancy this.

Nestled on a buttery pool of Herb Butter Marinate and Spicy Oriental Buttermilk, the Roasted Chicken Thigh (S$24) has fork-tender flesh with a golden-brown exterior. My highlight of this dish was strangely the Potato Mash hidden under the Boneless Chicken Thigh. Soaking up the luscious flavours from the gravy and chicken just added depth to the potato’s smooth texture!

Be sure to snag a bake or two from their in-house bakery. They always sell out, so arrive early.

8. Seng House

Eat in style.

If their dark green and beige colour palette is not chic enough for you, the stained glass panels and wooden furniture will do just that. Founded by the family behind Gu Zao Ren Taiwan Porridge, Seng House is a 70s-inspired coffeehouse at Tanjong Katong.

Incorporating traditional Hainanese flavours into modern Western cuisine, this cafe demonstrates the fusion of East and West at its best. There’s something for everyone! Really.

The Seng Breakfast Club (S$20.80) has sweet charcoal-grilled Kaya Toast with Pork Chipolata Sausage, Black Forest Ham and more. Don’t forget to tell them how you like your eggs – fried, omelette, scrambled or 63°C sous vide.

Now meet the bigger guys. The Hainanese Pork Chop (S$23.50) is an atas spin on this yummy classic. Drizzled with iconic sweet-and-sour sauce, this is a juicy Iberico Pork deep-fried in cream cracker crumbs.

You can’t spell coffeehouse without coffee. Packaged in sleek bottles, savour their Housemade Cold Brews such as Secret White (S$8) (my top pick), a smooth blend with underlying notes of chocolate, hazelnut and honey.

Psst, they have a 1-for-1 Prosecco Sunday Promo if you bring your furkid. Limited to 1 redemption per pet, this deal is only available on Sundays (of course). Time to seng your heart out.

Verandah@Rael’s at Star Vista is right up your alley. At first glance, most will be attracted by their storybook-inspired interior, but this story spells more. Using “closely-guarded heirloom recipes”, Verandah@Rael’s melds the warmth of Peranakan and Indonesian cuisines to create dishes made with the “labour of love”.

Verandah’s Indo Rojak (S$8.90) is a refreshing appetiser that comes with a tangy paste made from chilli, tamarind and prawn paste in palm sugar syrup. Moving to the next chapter, the Nyonya Ngoh Hiang (S$18.90) is a hot-favourite bean curd roll packed with minced pork, prawns and sweet water chestnuts. This was extremely addictive too.

Other personal favourites would include their Tau Yu Bak (S$19.90), a savoury-sweet braised pork soaked in caramelised soy sauce with spices, as well as Honey Pork (S$19.90). As its name suggests, the latter is a share of stir-fried pork coated with honey black sauce.

I would relive my first experience at Verandah all over again if I got the chance!

10. The Urban Hideout

With air-con on full blast, this is one of the few Pet-friendly Places with indoor seating.

Renowned for their aromatic coffee and artisanal gelato, The Urban Hideout at Yishun is a staple for anyone in need of a quick dessert break. TMI, but my family makes it a point to visit them every month.

Featuring a wide range of lightly-churned Gelato (from S$3.90), do not miss flavours like Bluepea Seasalt, Gianduja Rocher and Sicilican Pistachio. I am looking to try After 8, a Mint Chocolate fondant with 100% natural peppermint oil, complete with crunchy choco bits.

Perfumed with maple syrup or chocolate sauce and sprinkled with Lotus Biscoff crumbs, the Signature Waffle with Gelato (S$11.90) is a “secret waffle recipe” that projects every sweet tooth’s dream.

Remember to choose a scoop of your fav gelato too.

Aside from its decadent offerings, you can brunch away with their Jumbo Smoked Salmon & Egg Mayo Croissant (S$16.90). Fun fact, the herbed Egg Mayo is made from kampung eggs!

They also have All-Day Mains and Dinner. Think sophisticated Sous Vide Chicken Chop with Demi Glace & Mash (S$16.90) and Duck Confit (S$21.90) respectively.

Their human-grade Pet Food sounds as fancy as the Human ones. Erm, would you try these Beef Ribeye Cubes (S$12.90) sauteed with coconut oil with pumpkin puree dip?

11. Privé

This should be a familiar face to you.

Dotting multiple locations across Singapore, Privé has pet-friendly outlets at Robertson Quay, Tiong Bahru, Keppel Bay, Botanic Gardens and One Holland Village. As someone who adores long walks after a filling meal, my most-visited outlet is the Botanic Gardens one.

Surrounded by lush greenery and the sounds of a nearby waterfall, you can truly be one with nature. I mean, Botanic Gardens leh. Dogs love looking at the wandering chickens here (I occasionally get spooked by a flying rooster).

What’s on your plate today? Feast on Sliders (S$18/ S$19), which are bite-sized burgers with either Grass-Fed Beef or Impossible Meat Patty. I prefer the latter as it has caramelised onions that add a subtle oomph to these Small Bites.

Talking about burgers, would you try their Nasi Lemak Burger (S$22)? From Otak-otak to fried Turmeric Chicken, this has all the essential elements of the fragrant local dish.

Privé also features a meld of other cuisines with a unique twist – Chicken Satay Pizza (S$12.50/ S$22), Spicy Korean Chicken Parmesan (S$27.50) and Thai Style Barramundi (S$28) are just a few.

You can’t go wrong with their colourful Ultimate Big Breakfast (S$26), the maple-glazed thick-cut bacon goes crazy! We’ll never be deprived here.

12. Canopy HortPark

Based on ambience, I dare say that this beats Privé at it.

Among their 3 outlets (Changi Village, Changi City Point, HortPark and Esplanade), Canopy at HortPark is the closest to my heart. While you can be one with nature at Privé Botanic Gardens, Canopy HortPark is raw, stripped back nature itself.

Accommodating up to 200 guests, it serenades diners with the lush foliage of garden walls, potted plants and hanging greens. You can’t miss the pretty nursery located next to the airy al fresco area.

If this isn’t clear enough, I’m an absolute sucker for strolls with my dog here on a slow Sunday afternoons.And HortPark is perfect for that.

Served with Mashed Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables, the best-selling Rosemary Chicken (S$25) is a juicy meat in light Rosemary Garlic Sauce. Other dishes worth trying include the Dry Aged Beef Burger (S$32) that possesses a great depth of flavour.

My guilty pleasure? The saccharine Apple Crumble (S$14) topped with vanilla ice cream. I remember scraping up every morsel of the warm crumble pie that satisfyingly complemented the remaining ice cream, which had sadly transformed into a puddle of vanilla goo.

Paiseh, I cannot get over this homey place till now. I have taken naps on their rattan chairs before…Oops. Nevertheless, welcome home to Canopy.

13. Surrey Hills Grocer

Farm in the city?

Enter Surrey Hills Grocer, with 2 indoor pet-friendly outlets, one at One Holland Village and the other at Woodleigh Mall. The latter exclusively houses Pancake Parlour, a recognised pancake house straight from Melbourne.

Reminiscent of driving to a farm gate in the Australian countryside, this restaurant has established itself as one of Singapore’s most prominent family restaurants.

Your pet will be pleased to hear this. Anchoring the pet-friendliness of Surrey Hills Grocer is their very own Pet Grocer Corner, Furry Hills! Browse through a selection of nutritional pet treats, fashionable accessories and pet-safe grooming products.

A tucker or two? Garnished with Korean seaweed flakes, the Matcha Udon (S$26) features al dente udon in creamy white wine matcha sauce with a side of smoked pork belly, parmesan cheese and ramen egg.

On the other hand, the Brown Sugar Chocolate Skookie (S$24) has vanilla ice cream, raspberry marmalade and chocolate sauce on a brown sugar chocolate macadamia nut skillet cookie. Dig in, mate.

14. Well Collective

Well, well, well! Here comes the most tranquil place you’ll ever Collectively experience.

Donning a minimalistic Japanese French-inspired space with curved arches and limewashed walls, idyllicWell Collective at Northshore Plaza II is like a breath of fresh air. As it stands near a scenic waterfront with a view of Malaysia, you can subtly smell the sea when seated at the Pet Patio! Plus point if it rains.

With a menu that caters to various food preferences – options include no pork, no lard as well as vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free, the cafe is also the epitome of a “pet haven”. They are meshed together with a vet clinic, pet grooming and pet shop.

If you are just looking for a conducive place to work, Well Collective is equipped with power sockets and free Wi-Fi. HELLO?! So convenient.What’s more, it is also within walking distance of Punggol Promenade. Hey, you can smell AND see the sea there.

On to the good part, the Japanese Chicken Curry Sando (S$19) is nubbad. Sandwiched between toasted Sourdough, the Sando is loaded with mild-spicy Curry-marinated Chicken Leg, Honey Mango, Curry Mayo and lettuce. It’s solid lah.

Their Shibuya Toast (S$18) is a no-brainer. Coming in 3 flavours – Choco Hazelnut, Earl Grey Orange and Crème Brûlée all pillowy Toasts contain ice cream, Chantilly cream, fruits and more.Dessert lovers will be spoilt for choice.

15. Under Der Linden

If you love Café de Nico, you’ll love this.

Adorned with captivating flowers in a charming colonial European-style interior, Under Der Linden at One-North is opened by the same folks behind the aforementioned Café de Nico and Le Jardin. Doesn’t it look like it’s straight out from a storybook?

Actually, yes.

Inspired by a medieval German lyrical poet, Walther von der Vogelweide, this whimsical concept is further highlighted by the lines of Walther’s poetry etched on the cafe’s walls. Unsurprisingly, the Instagrammable space has also hosted weddings and other private events! Now for the food.

As their seasonal Spring Menu “mirrors the vibrant colours and fresh flavours of this rejuvenating time of the year”, look out for springtime Starters such as Crudités (S$18), a vegetable platter with zesty Yuzu Kosho Crème Fraîche and Puffed Quinoa.

I am hungrily eyeing the Cauliflower Chawamushi (S$20) with Tonburi (aka Vegan Caviar).

The Mains sounds just as appetising. Nestled upon a pool of Garlic Shoot Velouté, the delicate Chilean Cod (S$35) is accompanied by Spring Vegetables and Pickled Onion. Fitting heh.

Can you tell that I’m a nature girlie?

Boasting a panoramic coastline view, Stella Seaside Lounge at Changi Coast is situated right on Changi Beach’s incredibly vast (for Singapore) shoreline . In addition to basking in the quietude of wispy trees and crashing waves, my family and I love watching the occasional sailboat going by. Vibes lah.

Tip: If you are going on sunny days, reserve the Alfresco Area instead of the Daybed or Infinity Deck… it gets quite hot after a while. But bring sunscreen regardless! Alternatively, you may dip your toes into their Poolside Lounge. Do note that this isn’t a pet-friendly pool though.

Staying true to its seaside location, their menu is understandably very seafood-centric. Starting off with the Crispy Soft Shell Crab Tacos (S$24), I found the pan-fried tortillas filled with crab, house slaw, wasabi mayo and cheese.

Sauteed in garlic butter broth and sharp white wine, the popular White Wine Clams (S$20) are amazingly fresh and slurp-able.

With a waiting time of 30-40 mins, the Barramundi with Seafood Stew (S$48) is an umami-packed Prawn Bisque with prawns, squid, Iberico Chorizo and grilled Humpty Doo Barramundi.

Cool down with a PS MOJITO (S$19)! This is a tropical and easy-to-drink concoction with passionfruit puree, strawberries, lime juice, strawberry syrup, mint and a splash of rum. Shiok.

This is for moments when you’re feeling a lil’ fancy.

Rounding up this Paw-some List is The Dempsey Project aptly at Dempsey Hill. I embarrassingly used to patronise the classy restaurant religiously for a quick brunch fix. If The Dempsey Project (TDP) is a school project, I will give them a big red ‘A’. Their extensive menu is really extensive.

Take a look at the Day Menu and Sunset & Beyond Menu. Yes, pick your jaw up from the ground! To be honest, I’m not really sure how to cover this (TOO MANY SIA). As an ex-TDP connoisseur, let me simply share with you some of my favourites from the menus.

Bursting with deliciousness in every bite, the TDP Wagyu Beef Burger (S$32) featureshouse-made Brioche Buns, smoky Cheddar Cheese, Truffle Mayo, bacon, mesclun and the elegant Bois Boudran sauce.

On the other hand, the fork-tender Smoky BBQ Pork Ribs (S$37) are generously covered with sticky Chipotle Glaze, and come with mashed potato and corn on the cob.

You know the drill. Dessert time! Served with fruits galore, their Something Sweet’s Cookies & Cream Berry Parfait (S$19) has alternate layers of whipped cream, berry jam and moist cake. I think it’s time for me to visit them again.
