Case Western Reserve University is academically challenging because it is selective, but it supports students through free tutoring and mental health counseling. I enjoy the academic resources but the overall physical campus feels unsafe to walk in from my own experience. I recommend it to students who value STEM academics, but I also want to warn future students about being careful around the reckless drivers and trying not engage in conversation with some of the crazy pedestrians that lurk around on campus. Other than that, the staff is supportive and the high academic competition amongst students can be motivating for some.

I really enjoyed my time at Case! The fact that everyone lived on campus made it easy to develop a close group of friends, and feel like there was a sense of community. The academics were quite rigorous, and there did feel like there was a pressure to perform - but I largely found this helpful. I think the only issue was that everyone worked so hard (most people were double majoring) it was easy to feel like being burnt out was normal.

I know most of the student body is unhappy with housing and what we pay for it and it should be worked on and changed going forward. Case prides itself on diversity and high-quality research but most students cannot afford a semester without thousands of dollars of loans or scholarship money. I hope that moving forward, Case can make going to their school more affordable instead of hiding behind full tuition scholarships where students will have to pay 20k a year for room and board.
