The Collier County Clerk of the Circuit Court is an independently elected Constitutional Officer and Public Trustee whose responsibilities include Keeper of Court and Public Records, auditor, accountant, and “Watchdog” of all public funds. Recording of documents involves the assignment of sequential “instrument” numbers to documents presented to the office. In addition to recording the documents, the Recording department also reviews documents, makes sure they meet all requirements, and calculates and collects any taxes. The recording process involves:

  • assign numbers (record thedocument)
  • scan document (for placement on theWorld Wide Web)
  • index names to create an alphabetical index to the Official Records
  • return original, recorded document to the owner

The recorded documents create the Official Records. Official records can be obtained by visiting the Clerk of the Circuit Court’s office in person during office hours, by mail, or by doing a background check online. To do a public records search online, you will have to visit the Collier County Clerk Website. While on the website, click on the relevant link to access the records that are available online.
