The face of Maybelline for years, the model, 33, has also dabbled in acting, appearing in Van Helsing, and reality TV, where she took a spin on Dancing with the Stars.
In 2007, Maran established Josie Maran Cosmetics, her own natural product line. Since the launch, the Argan oil-based skincare and cosmetics have been the recipient of various industry awards.
Expecting her second child in July, Maran currently lives in California with her husband, Ali Alborzi, and their 5½-year-old daughter, Rumi Joon.

This is a perfect time to start writing to you, dear PEOPLE peeps. You’re catching me at a huge moment in my life. My daughter Rumi Joon is growing almost as fast as Josie Maran Cosmetics (JMC), the business I started when I was pregnant with her.
The eco-movement is growing as people all over catch on to the need to protect our precious planet, which makes the future look really bright — and makes me really happy.
And my belly is growing, too! In July, my husband, Ali, our daughter and I will welcome our second child into this beautiful world.
I bet I know what you want to ask me: Is it a boy or a girl? Well, we love to be surprised. And I really can’t imagine a better surprise than meeting this little person who’s going to be at the center of our lives forever! We’re looking forward to welcoming our new little munchkin.
Here’s an intro to my lovely little family:
ME: Born and raised in Northern California, I love to have a good time, go on adventures, invent new ways of doing things, cook, go to new restaurants, play frisbee, learn, ask questions, give, have picnics on the beach with my husband and daughter and create healthy amazing cosmetics to share with the world.
ALI: My husband, my best friend, my business partner and the best papa in the world! We met in 2004 at a Cirque du Soleil party and it was love at first sight. He teaches me so much and loves me perfectly every day. I can’t wait to see him tickle two kids at once.
RUMI JOON: Our 5½-year-old daughter. She is the most curious, happy person I know. No sitting back in life, just full of courage to take on the world. She loves to play in the dirt and collect rocks and crystals, but she is also a girly-girl who likes to do my friend’s makeup.
Rumi’s totally excited about being a big sister. She’s hoping for a little brother. I’m just happy I get an eager little helper. ?
It’s so touching to me when she puts her head on my belly and talks to the baby. The cutest thing is when she blows on my bump to make funny noises so the baby laughs.
There’s so much to appreciate about my life every single day, and I make a big point of taking time to smell the roses and noticing how lucky I am. I never want to take that for granted.
Expecting for the second time reminds me of my fun “start up JMC” experiences during pregnancy number one. I spent the whole time belly-deep in makeup and packaging samples and shipping boxes, making big decisions while I was under the influence of all those crazy hormones.
Luckily, my husband is my business partner as well as my life partner, so I never had to do the heavy lifting alone, literally or figuratively. Throughout this pregnancy, too, Ali and I are making decisions and doing things together — whether it’s finding the best kindergarten for Rumi Joon, dreaming up new and exciting expansion plans for JMC, or planning our family’s relocation to Pennsylvania for the summer.
In the Maran-Alborzi household, it’s all for one, and one for all.
