    Ten Hag dismisses Rashford criticism

Erik Ten Hag has slammed Alan Shearer's criticism of Marcus Rashford and defended his player.

He said: "Everyone gets criticism from you guys, it doesn’t matter what we are doing, if we are winning or if we are losing. If I take a player off, the conclusion is I was not happy with him. But I was very happy with Rashy in pre-season, against Fulham and also against Brighton.

"I didn’t take him off because his performances or level were not right – no, we had to rotate because we have good players on the bench who bring new energy. There will be rotation. Then there is the conclusion the player is not performing. It can be sometimes but definitely it wasn’t in this case. In this case, it was stupid analysis from the pundit."

    Legend's Fergie row

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Paul Ince claims eight players had to restrain him during an fiery shouting match with manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ince toldtalkSPORT: "We had a big, big game with Norwich in 1992/93 and Norwich were going for the title.

“They were a very, very good team and I think we won the game 3-0 or 3-1, and with about five minutes to go I had the ball and I went on a little mazy run and I lost the ball, they went up the pitch and nearly scored.

“I didn’t think anything of it, so we got into the changing room, all the lads are patting each other on the back and saying ‘well done’ and I’m joining in the fun and then Sir Alex comes storming through the door like Rambo and absolutely slaughtered me.

“He was shouting ‘What are you doing Incey? You’re not [Diego] Maradona, get the ball and pass it to the best players!’

“I’m thinking ‘Where’s this come from?’ And me being me I bit back, we’d just beat title contenders comfortably at Carrow Road and I’ve had a decent game.

“But it was all about standards for him and doing the right things all the time and not coming away from that, and that shows the greatness of the man. But me being the character I was at the time, I bit back, started having a shouting match.”

Amad beats new signing to prize

Amad has been named Manchester United's Player of the Month for the very first time in his career.

The young Ivorian forward has made some big strides forward during the calendar year of 2024, and has started all three of United's games so far this season.

Amad opened the scoring in our last Premier League fixture, at Brighton & Hove Albion, and also impressed during the Community Shield against Manchester City and in our league opener against Fulham.

Nominated alongside new signing Noussair Mazraoui and 20-year-old prodigy Alejandro Garnacho in our final shortlist, Amad was the clear favourite among fans, drawing more than half of all votes.

    Man Utd star could leave

Christian Eriksen could still depart Old Trafford despite Man Utd turning down a late bid from Real Betis.

That is because Belgian side Anderlecht are interested and have six more days until their transfer window closes.

His former side Ajax are also interested but a loan move to Anderlecht looks more likely.

    Pellistri reveals reason for leaving

Facundo Pellistri has revealed he wanted to leave Man Utd prior to reporting back for the start of pre-season training.

He told ESPN Deportes: "I had made the decision a little before I returned to training.

"I knew that the ideal thing for my future and at my age was to play, and that I could play in Manchester, but it would be more complicated.

"So, I wasn't going to have the amount of minutes that I want in a year, so we went out to look for different alternatives.

"All the options I considered were from Europe. I didn't receive any proposal from South America, it wasn't that I ruled out that option of returning to South American football."

    Ten Hag compared to Rodgers

Jamie Carragher has compared Erik ten Hag's situation at Manchester United to that of former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.

He wrote for The Telegraph: “United’s vote of confidence in Ten Hag reminded me of the outcome of the Liverpool boardroom’s review of Brendan Rodgers’ tenure nine years ago.

“For Rodgers, it proved a stay of execution. He could not survive the next poor sequence of results as those pushing for change felt it was a matter of when, not if, he was replaced as soon as the ideal candidate became available – as Jurgen Klopp did during the international break in October 2015.

“Ten Hag is in danger of entering the same territory, despite being given a new contract. If results and performances do not get better, criticism instantly resurfaces. Heading into a third season, it is not feasible for Ten Hag to still sound like a manager at the start of a rebuilding process.”

    Ten Hag discusses transition period

Erik ten Hag has claimed Man Utd are in a transition period and have much more work to do compared to Sunday's opponents Liverpool.

He told TNT Sports: "I'm not here to talk for him [Slot] but Liverpool, it's clear, they are in a different phase of the life cycle.

"They have a team that is mature, players who have been playing for a long time together and who are very experienced. We have much more of a mix and have to build a new team.

"There is a team and the structures are really clear, I think the players, the partnerships, the relationships in that team are very clear and that is what he inherited, that has been built over the past years.

"So things are still the same, but I have also seen some things that he already brought in.

“That was one of the reasons I wanted to come here, to have this challenge. I knew beforehand this is the most difficult [thing] that I could ever do in life, to come into a club which has a lot of problems which we had to sort."

    Pundit shocked at Sancho decision

Former Tottenham defender Michael Dawson thinks Jadon Sancho has made a big mistake swapping Man Utd for Chelsea on deadline day.

He told Sky Sports: “It’s a surprising move for me when I look at the players already at Chelsea in that wide area.

“Jadon Sancho is a good player, let’s not forget that. He was a superstar at Borussia Dortmund, he went to United and it didn’t work out for him.

“But to go to Chelsea, why will it be any different there? Where’s he going to play? I honestly thought he needed to go somewhere where he was going to play.

“I think he’s the kind of player that wants to be playing week in, week out. He’s going to be in and out like you won’t believe at Chelsea.

“Chelsea is an absolutely crazy place right now. You’re bringing in Sancho for [Raheem] Sterling. It blows my mind.”

Ex-Man Utd star praises late signing

Former Man Utd academy talent Ben Thornley believes the signing of youngster Sekou Kone could prove to be an astute acquisition.

He told MUTV: “It’s absolutely brilliant. This is the remit Dan Ashworth brings with him.

“He has a plethora of knowledge about how to bring them into the academy. This is another one of a number we have signed in this transfer window and I’m sure there are more to come.

“They [players] know Manchester United has got a huge rich history of bringing players through, and still be able to develop them. Trust me – they are in the best place.”

    Ten Hag blocks late transfers

Erik ten Hag blocked a late attempt from Real Betis to sign both Antony and Christian Eriksen, according to the Daily Mail.

It is understood that Man Utd boss Ten Hag ‘was unwilling to permit any other members of his squad to leave in the final few hours’ despite Betis wanting ‘to tempt United’s late resolve and asked about the possibility of taking both Antony and the Danish midfielder on loan, but were quickly rebuffed.’

Ten Hag was disappointed by Scott McTominay's departure to Napoli as he was an important member of his squad.

    Shearer baffled by Man Utd

Alan Shearer was left dismayed after Man Utd opted against signing Ivan Toney, who joined Al-Ahli in a £40million transfer.

He said: "I like Ivan Toney - he's an excellent player, obviously, he knows the Premier League, he knows what it's about and he's proven at that level. He's an England international too.

"He only has one year left on his contract, and I understand why some players would want to go to Saudi Arabia, but for someone like him who's in the prime of his career, he's got another four or five years ahead of him. I think he has a lot to offer.

"I am slightly surprised - I think he'd do pretty well at Old Trafford. I thought they [United] were poor in forward areas against Brighton and without Hojlund.

"I know they've signed Zirkzee, but they're playing Fernandes and Mount as two 'false' nines, and I'm not sure that's worked for them. They got the goal from Zirkzee against Fulham and then just the one last week, so it hasn't quite clicked for them yet in forward positions."

    Sancho loan includes strange clause

Jadon Sancho could return to Man Utd thanks to an unusual clause in his loan with an obligation to buy move.

The winger made a deadline day switch to Chelsea who could have to pay United £25m to make the loan permanent.

However they will be able to opt out of a permanent deal if they do not finish in the top 14 in the Premier League, according to The Telegraph.
