Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Molina.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Maria. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am originally from Argentina. I studied Tourism at “Universidad del Salvador” in Buenos Aires and worked in the travel industry for several years I had visited the USA twice for skydiving trainings but moving definitely to be with my husband was a huge decision.

A month after I immigrated, I was working at a law office where I worked for 15 years as a paralegal. I attended the paralegal program at Northeastern University. I enjoyed working with people from around the world as we specialized in immigration law. In 2015 I was laid off, it was a blessing in disguise. I had the chance to reinvent myself again.

I saw the potential to become whatever I would desire. I was a divorced mother of a 10 year-old son and I wished to show him that taking the risk to follow one’s passion with dedication and a positive attitude it is worth pursuing. I was inspired to do the Reiki Master Program with Dr. Lourdes Gray and since then I opened my Reiki practice. Helping and connecting deeply with people makes me happy and fulfils my purpose, and I think that shows in my work.

Mystic River Reiki has been growing slowly and steadily with amazing personal returns. The power of Reiki keeps impressing me and seeing the peace achieved by my clients after a session makes me commit even more. The possibilities in this work are limitless and that is exhilarating.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would describe it more as an emotional rollercoaster, with a lot of personal growth. In perspective, I have had it better than many, so I usually do not complain. During the process, I’ve been my best ally and only enemy. To be courageous we need to feel the fear and doubts and push through them, not always easy.

The biggest struggle was being apart from my family and friends in Argentina, being a single mother and managing to remain positive during the hard times. Letting go of the expectations, living mindfully in the present is something that is still challenging. I believe those are necessary traits in my work. The fact that my son is watching, as we teach by example, has given me, so far, the strength to overcome the challenges.

The ups and downs of starting a business, while supporting my son and myself, were scary at first but believing that what you give from your heart comes back to you multiplied, has proven to be right to me.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mystic River Reiki story. Tell us more about the business.
Mystic River Reiki is a solo practice for now, with a diversified clientele. I speak English, Spanish and Portuguese giving me the opportunity to reach an ample spectrum of clients. Reiki is an alternative healing practice that is growing rapidly and practiced in many hospitals with great success. It is a complimentary gentle tool for relaxation. It helps manage stress and allows the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of the individual to return to balance through the channeling of energy. Sometimes I use crystals, which increases the energy and adds to the benefits of Reiki.

I am proud of continually having a positive feedback from the clients, helping them manage and overcome their physical or emotional pain is very rewarding. Clients have experienced deep relaxation, increase in mental focus, reduction and/or elimination of pain, impressive acceleration of the healing after surgery, emotional release, relief from anxiety, reduction of inflammation, along with healing of other physical symptoms and improvement of their general well-being.

I believe that acceptance and compassion are of paramount importance when working with clients living difficult circ*mstances and diverse health conditions.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I consider myself a lucky person, I think it has to do with the ability to see the silver lining in different situations or events in our lives. If we see a challenge as an opportunity to expand in some way, to learn or acquire new strengths, then life has a way to reward us. In my mind, it is a question of perception. I have been lucky to have the support of family and friends most of the time, and when I don’t, I remember Einstein’s quote: “I am thankful for all those who said no to me. It’s because of them I am doing it myself”.
