Theresa A. Ratcliffe, 82, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024 at home. She was the wife of the late Clifton P. Ratcliffe, Jr. with whom she celebrated 51 years of marriage before his passing. Theresa was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Vernon J. and Anna Bannack O'Conner. She was a planter at Miller's Greenhouse, Landisville for 35 years before her retirement.

She is survived by one son: Jeffrey W. (Ann) Ratcliffe and one daughter: Lisa M. Brosey. Also, one granddaughter: Shannon R. Brosey.

Eugene K. "Gene" Auker, 84, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at home. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late John H. and Sarah Campbell Kreider Auker. He was a Tool & Die maker at Hamilton Watch Company for 42 years and also served as a Union Steward, before his retirement in 2002. Gene was a graduate of Hempfield High School, Class of 1958 and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Landisville, the Landisville Lions Club and the PA National Guard. He enjoyed collecting Depression Glassware, Christmas ornaments, travelling, family and friends, especially his grandsons.

He is survived by one daughter: Teresa A. (Steven D.) Arnold, York. Two grandsons: Jay and Jesse Arnold. He was preceded in death by one sister: June Sorenson.

Karen E. Rodebaugh, 81, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at home. She was the wife of Thomas L. Rodebaugh, Jr. with whom she celebrated 55 years of marriage on March 29, 2024. She was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late George VanArsdale and Marguerite Hary VanArsdale Weis. Karen worked in record-keeping at St. Joseph Hospital and the Mennonite Home, before her retirement. She was a very active member of Wayside Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday School Superintendent and was an elder in the Presbyterian Church. She also served as Clerk of Session at Wayside and served the Donegal Presbytery as a member of the Ministry Committee. Karen was a graduate of Millersville University.

She is survived by one son: Dr. Thomas L. (Tess Thompson) Rodebaugh, III. One daughter: Beth Anne Rodebaugh and four grandchildren.

Manerva W. Awad, 66, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024. She was the wife of the late Dr. Fayez R. Awad, who passed away in December, 2022. Manerva was born in Cairo, Egypt, daughter of the late William and Soria Louka Dous. She was a homemaker, a sensational cook, mother, and wife as well as an accountant working in her husband's esteemed Veterinary Animal Hospital. She was a member of St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and cherished her time at the church. Manerva's passions included cooking, music and reading. Bright colors, and rainbows brought joy to her life. She also took great pleasure and pride in assisting newcomers from Egypt to America, dedicating herself to helping them adapt to their new surroundings. Manerva was a very vibrant and secretly feisty person; known for her deep kindness. She will be cherished in memory by all who were lucky enough to know her.

She is survived by one daughter: Mary F. Awad, Elizabethtown. One son: John F. (Marisa) Awad, Philadelphia. Siblings: Magda Dous; Samir (Treza) Dous and Samia (Magid) Rouphail.

Kenneth F. Jenkins, 88, of Lititz, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024. He was the husband of Janice E. Miller Jenkins with whom he would have celebrated 59 years of marriage on October 16, 2024. Kenneth was born in Manheim, son of the late Walter R. and Bertha E. Frey Jenkins. He was a graduate of Manheim Central High School, Class of 1954 and was a veteran of the US Army, having served from 1959 to 1962. Kenneth was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. He retired in 2003 from Longenecker's Hatchery, Inc. after 29 years there. He enjoyed golf, reading, music and following the Oakland A's baseball team. Kenneth had a great sense of humor, loved history and was dearly loved by his family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife, one son: Mark S. Jenkins and one daughter: Karen L. Jenkins. One sister: J. Carol Mackley. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Michael (Sally) Miller. He was preceded in death by his brother: Robert W. Jenkins and brother-in-law: Calvin Mackley.

Fay L. Sullenberger, 91, formerly of Lancaster, Wrightsville and Mountville, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at The Health Center at Moravian Manor, Lititz, PA. She was the wife of the late Donald E. Sullenberger, who passed away in 2012. She raised two children during her prior thirty year marriage to the late Charles B. Farnan. Fay was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late George and Ruth Miller Potts. She was a longtime receptionist for Jack Hatz, D.D.S., Millersville; and later at Lancaster Contact Lens before her retirement.

She is survived by her son: Tim Farnan, Lancaster and daughter: Terri Farnan (Dominic), Bermuda; one sister: Donna L. Potts, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Edward R. Potts and Barry Potts.

Fay was a longtime auxiliary member of American Legion Post 469, Wrightsville; VFW, Mountville; Elks Lodge, Columbia and she enjoyed visiting chapters around the country with her husband. In her twenties she earned a two-star pin for over 1,000 hours of service as a Junior USO hostess.

Prior to, and after her retirement she traveled extensively throughout the United States, Bermuda, Europe and on cruises around Hawaii and the Mediterranean; including yearly extended stays in Florida during the winter months.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses, staff and volunteers at Moravian Manor's Skilled Care Unit for the wonderful care shown to their mother over the past two years. Fay enjoyed many of the social activities with her fellow residents and became a competitive BINGO player amassing a large amount of winnings in the form of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. She was known for her wardrobe and always dressed like she was going somewhere.

According to the family and her wishes, all services shall be private. She will be interred at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Francis Zimmer, 77, of Mountville, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024. He was the husband of Irene (nee Michel) Zimmer with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage on May 25, 2024. He was born in Chester, PA, son of the late William and Frances Smith Zimmer.

Francis was proud to serve his country by enlisting in the US Air Force. Trained as an aircraft and helicopter mechanic, he saw action in the Vietnam Conflict as part of the 40th Aerospace Rescue & Recovery Squadron. Sgt. Francis Zimmer received the Air Force Commendation Medal. He distinguished himself by meritorious service while assigned to the 40th ARRS at Udorn Air Base during the Vietnam war.

Francis went to college on the GI Bill. He graduated with an AS from Community College of Delaware County in 1976. He also graduated with a BS degree in Business Administration from Widener College in 1978.

In Lancaster, he served on the boards of IMA (formerly NAA), IAFP, Meals on Wheels and the Lancaster Library in roles of Director, VP and President.

Francis was elected to serve on the Mountville Borough Council in 1996. He was re-elected to serve several terms until 2017. He was Borough Council President from 2002 to 2004. During his terms, he represented Mountville Borough at LIMC and PSAB. He served on the Borough Planning Commission from 2010 to 2024. While on Council, he earned the Certified Borough Official Certificate (CBO).

In 1986 he earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. From 1990 until his passing, he worked at Financial Management Group, Ltd.

In high school, he managed the Varsity basketball team, was on the rifle team and played baseball and soccer. He was an avid photographer doing weddings, portraits, travels and celebrations.

Surviving in addition to his wife, one sister: Virginia (William) Kee. Nephews: Thomas and Andrew Kee. Sister-in-law: Rosemarie McFadden. Nephew: Kyle McFadden. Niece: Lindsay McFadden. Nieces: Sherri Betsy, Patricia Watson, Faith Zimmer and Terrilyn Parise.

Vernon Howard Stinebaugh, 105, formerly of North Manchester, IN passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Trillium Place, formerly the Mennonite Home. A native of Indiana, Vernon was born in 1919, in Walton, IN, son of the late Rev. Walter C. and Merle Spitler Stinebaugh. His father and grandfather both were long-time pastors and school teachers.

Angela Mae Stinebaugh passed away peacefully the morning of Tuesday, February 16, 2024 at the Mennonite Home. She was two weeks shy of her 105th birthday. She was born in Johnstown, daughter of the late Rev. CC and Cora Horst Sollenberger.

Vernon spent 41 years as a professor of music and symphony conductor, and 24 years as first violinist in the Fort Wayne (Indiana) Philharmonic Orchestra. He began his teaching career at Manchester College, North Manchester, as an associate professor and in 1946, introduced a strings program at the college. A highlight of Vernon's career was to institute a String Festival Concert during which high school students joined in performing with other string players. The event was held annually through 1971. He later accepted a professorship at Grace College, Winona Lake, IN, where he taught for an additional ten years. Vernon held degrees from the University of Dayton, OH and both Sherwood Music School and Northwestern University, Chicago. Along with his career in music, Vernon was an ordained minister for the Church of the Brethren and served 23 years as a part-time pastor for the South Whitley (Indiana) Church of the Brethren, while also teaching at Manchester College.

Angela spent her childhood years in Uniontown, PA, where she graduated from high school in 1936. She then attended Manchester College in North Manchester, IN. It was there that she met her husband, Vernon and received her BS in Music Education, in 1940. Angela taught elementary music for 35 years in the North Manchester Community Schools and pursued graduate studies at Ball State University. She later received her Masters in Music Education from St. Francis University, Fort Wayne, IN.

Vernon and Angela married in1942 at the Ephrata Church of the Brethren and moved to North Manchester, IN in 1946. Angela managed teaching while also being a loving wife and homemaker for her husband and two daughters during an era when married women often did not pursue careers. She was a fine seamstress and enjoyed sewing clothing and crocheting many beautiful items to grace their home.

In 1993, the couple moved to York to reside near their younger daughter, Janice, and in 2010 relocated to Woodcrest Villa, Lancaster to live even closer to family. Shortly after their move to the Lancaster area, they joined the Mountville Church of the Brethren.

Vernon and Angela are survived by their two daughters: Celia (Michael) Weiss, Elkhart, IN and Janice (Laurence) Booz, Lititz. Three grandsons and five great--grandchildren. Angela is survived by her younger sister: Carol Lancaster, Dayton, OH. She was preceded in death by one brother in 2022: Paul Sollenberger, Overland Park, KS. Vernon was preceded in death by an older brother: Galen Stinebaugh, Bridgewater, VA and two sisters: Mary Etta (Don) Holsopple, Goshen, IN and Martha (Lowell) Yohe, North Manchester, IN.

The Stinebaughs celebrated over 81 years of marriage in August of 2023 before Angela's death in February of 2024.

There will be no viewing, however, a Private Memorial Service will be held for the family with the interment of ashes in North Manchester, IN. Steven C. Gerber, Sr., 59, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at home. Born in Lancaster, Steven was the youngest son of the late Kenneth E. and Betty J. Bare Gerber.

Steven attended St. Anne's Catholic School and Lancaster Catholic High School. He loved his children, grandchildren and siblings more than anything, as well as his Raiders. He enjoyed music, football and good laughs.

Steven is survived by two children: Amanda R. Gerber and Michael K. Gerber. Eight grandchildren: Annabella, Brandon (Sammie), Dakota, Steven, Kevin, Savannah, Michael and Meadow. Six siblings: Ronnie, Ken, Doug, Mike, Jackie and Debbie. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, to whom he was a loving uncle. Steven was preceded in death by one son: Steven C. Gerber, II; one sister: Patty; two brothers: Jimmy and David ("Peanut"), as well as his best friend, Dana Roseman.

Nancy Marie Mummaw, 92, of Landisville, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Hospice and Community Care. She was born in Ironville, daughter of the late Guy K. and Marie W. Mummaw. Nancy worked for forty-two and a half years for Thomson Electronics, formerly RCA, Lancaster before she retired in 1988. She was a longtime member of Ironville United Methodist Church and their Sunday School. She sang in the Junior and Senior Choirs and also in a quartet, known as the "Village Four." Nancy was a graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1949 and had a passion for doing puzzles, word searches and playing games with family members.

She is survived by one son: Stephen R. (Sandra) Mummaw, Lancaster. Great-grandchildren: Maceon and Trinity Mummaw and their mother: Lindsay (Josh) Monty and their daughter: Peyton, Rocky Point, NC. Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one grandson: Stephen Ryan Mummaw. Brothers: Harold, Gordon, Ray, Guy, Drew and Alvin. Sisters: Bertha Haverstick, Frances Mowrer, Carolyn Zimmerman, Sarah Jane Raber and their spouses, and Mildred Singer.

Nancy S. Patton, 90, of East Petersburg, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Maple Farm. She was the wife of the late James L. Patton, Sr. who passed away on November 3, 1986. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Herman and Maude Wilker Starr. She worked as a clerk at Wheatland Federal Credit Union before her retirement. Nancy was the oldest living member of Trinity United Church of Christ.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan P. (Carl A.) Barley, York and one son: James L. Patton, Jr., East Petersburg. Two grandchildren: Austin and Jared Barley. Two sisters: Patsy (Donald) Miller, Manheim and Jane Starr, East Petersburg. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Harriet Bell and Emma Nissley.

Aileen C. “Dolly” Sidoti, 76, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. She was the wife of the late John J. Sidoti, who passed away in 2009. Dolly was born in East Orange, NJ daughter of the late Joseph and Aileen Lent Leone. She was a sterilization technician at Nyack Hospital, Nyack, NY.

Surviving are two sons: John J. (Anne) Sidoti, Racine,WI and Paul J. (Cherie L.) Sidoti, Columbia. Six grandchildren. One sister: Stella Cravens, Maryland.

Paul E. Bailey, Sr., 90, formerly of Conestoga, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, peacefully at home. He was the husband of the late, Nancy L. Bailey. Paul was born in Lancaster, son of the late William M. and Florence L. Reed Bailey. He was a truck driver/warehouseman for ShurFine Foods, York for 24 years before his retirement. He enjoyed motorcycles and his family.

He is survived by two sons: Paul E., Jr. (Renie M.) Bailey, Reinholds and Michael A. Bailey, Whitter, NC. Five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Walter and Clinton Bailey. One sister: Hazel Underwood.

Trinidad C. Borja, 94, of Mountville, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024 at Abbeyville Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Saipan, Mariana Islands, daughter of the late Luis T. and Ramona R. Sablan Camacho. Trinidad enjoyed gardening, crocheting and was an unselfish, caring individual.

She is survived by her children: Steven T. Borja, Mountville; Guadalupe Borja and Jesus Borja, both of Saipan. Five grandchildren: Steven T. Borja, Jr., Mountville; Laura (Robert) Brackbill, Hershey; Vincent Borja, Bowmansville; Kara Voigt, Columbia, MD and Tony Voigt, Naples, FL. Two great-grandchildren: Emma and Bennett. Brother: Dr. Carlos (Winnie) Camacho and family, Saipan and sister: Benita (Jerry) Kortz and family, Albert Lea, MN. . She was preceded in death by one daughter: Victoria Voigt.

Robert L. Fuhrman, 81, of York, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Misericordia Nursing and Rehabilitation after a long, well fought battle with MS and Dementia. He was the husband of Kathleen M. Hess Fuhrman with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage on April 7, 2024. Robert was born in York, son of the late Charles W., Jr. and Mae E. Shorts Fuhrman. He was a graduate of William Penn High School, York College and Penn State. Robert was a traffic manager for Metso, USA, Inc. for 40 years before his retirement and was a member of Kreutz Creek Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed volunteering as a counselor for the York County Area Agency on Aging, fishing, karate, photography, wood carving and music.

Surviving in addition to his wife, one son: Brian M. Fuhrman, York and two grandchildren: Alex Fuhrman, Fort Collins, CO and Natalie Fuhrman, York.

Mildred M. Singer, 89, of Ironville, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Lancaster Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of Lee A. Singer with whom she would have celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary on October 27, 2024. She was born in Ironville, daughter of the late Guy and Marie Walker Mummaw.

Krista M. Zink, 50, of Columbia, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Lancaster General Hospital. She was born in Columbia, daughter of the late William Zink and Rita Misel Shaeffer and step-daughter of Dave Shaeffer. She worked as a server at Columbia Family Restaurant and Rivertowne Restaurant. She also helped to build sets for the Drama Club at Columbia High School.

She is survived by her fiance: Jack P. Peters and daughter: Kayla M. Peters. Stepson: Austin Peters. Siblings: Rita Myers, William (Janine) Zink and Margaret Zink (significant other of: Glenn Allison). She was preceded in death by two stillborn sons: Jack and Jacob Peters and one sister: Amanda Zink.

Charles R. Cox, Jr., 98, of St. Anne's Retirement Community, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024. He was the husband of the late Kathryn F. Cox, who passed away in 1998. He was born in Shamokin, son of the late Charles R., Sr. and Alice Wehry Cox. Charlies worked as an arc welder at New Holland Machine Company before his retirement, then worked at the Manheim Auto Auction. He was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII, having served on DE 747 Destroyer Escort, USS Bright and was a survivor of a Kamikaze attack. Charlie was a member of Reese-Hall VFW Post 8757, where he was twice past commander, also its Honor Guard, where he served as president and treasurer; a 32 Degree member of Columbia Lodge #286 F&AM; Harrisburg Consistory; Lancaster Lodge of Perfection and the Twin Oaks Hunting Camp, Potter County.

He is survived by 13 nieces and nephews.

Doris D. "Dee" Spence, of Lancaster, after 87 adventurous years of life, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 9, 2024. She was the wife of the late Lawrence C. Spence, who passed away in 2002. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Earl and Dorothy E. Crawford Hagelgans. Dee was a member of Millersville Mennonite Church. She was a lot of things during her lifetime; a hiker of trails, a swinger of vines, a square dancer, an amateur carpenter, Civil Air Patrol Cadet, an LPN, fundraiser, breast cancer survivor and a 10 speed junkie. Dee never shied from a challenge, she cared for sick animals at Willow Run Veterinary Clinic, knew Karate and would spend hours gleefully wrestling her grandchildren into submission. Yet, in spite of her passing, she will not be forgotten. Her daring exploits will continue to be cheerfully discussed at every family gathering. The memory of her unconquerable spirit and charitable nature will continue to inspire those who knew her. The people who loved Dee most will never forget that she loved them a "bushel and a peck."

She is survived by her daughters: Karen Legieko and Robin (Douglas) Weidman. Her son: Larry Spence and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One brother: Lester Hagelgans and one sister: Yvonne Zipp. She was preceded in death by two grandsons: Johnny Legieko and Joshua Weidman.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held at Millersville Mennonite Church, 437 Manor Street, Millersville on SATURDAY, AUGUST 3, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation following the service. Miriam L. Nauman, 93, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Oak Leaf Manor North. She was the wife of the late Glenn M. Nauman, who passed away in 2016. She was born in Manheim, daughter of the late William S. and Beatrice Knight Lehman. Miriam worked as an assembler for Ham Tech for 18 years and Schick before her retirement. She was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, where she was a greeter. Miriam enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, flower gardening, her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she was a great cook.

She is survived by her children: Sandra L. Nauman, Maytown; Steven G. (Linda C.) Nauman, Landisville; Patti J. (Timothy M.) Hanco*ck, Millersville and Kimberly A. McMahon (companion of Bruce R. Gadbois), Mountville. Seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. One sister: Luella Gosthnian, Palmyra. She was preceded in death by one brother: William K. Lehman

The Memorial Service will be held at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 3131 Columbia Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603 on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. The Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Interment in the Church Memorial Garden. Please omit flowers.
