NL: Gevoelsmatig is de lente al aangebroken. Het zonnetje schijnt, de lucht is blauw en de hooikoorts kwam weer gauw. Dat laatsteweerhoudt mij er niet van om een lekkere wandeling te maken door de natuur of in het gras te gaan liggen in een grote weide om zolekker de omgeving in mij op te nemen. De vogels, insecten, bloemen, paddenstoelen en diertjes. Gelukkig kan ik nu ook in eenbordspel de weide opzoeken en wel in Meadow (what’s in a name?) van @rebelstudio.eu! Dit prachtige spel verschijnt binnenkort ende uitgever heeft mij de mogelijkheid gegeven om een previewexemplaar van het spel te testen! De versie die uiteindelijk in winkelszal verschijnen, zal dus iets anders zijn!
In Meadow verzamelen spelers kaarten om aan hun weide en het achterliggende landschap toe te voegen om zo de meeste puntente verdienen. Het spel bestaat, afhankelijk van de hoeveelheid spelers, uit verschillende rondes en acties die spelers ondernomen.Elke ronde doen spelers om de beurt acties door een van hun actiefiches te plaatsen op een van de twee speelborden. Op elke fichestaan 2 acties die corresponderen met 1 van de 2 borden. Zo moet een speler dus goed inschatten welke actie hij of zij wanneer wiltgebruiken. Als je een actie speelt op het hoofdbord, kun je dit fiche niet meer gebruiken deze ronde voor het andere bord.
Als spelers hun actiefiche aan het hoofdbord leggen mogen zijn een kaart pakken en die kaart aan hun hand toevoegen en indienmogelijk mogen zij vervolgens ook een kaart spelen. Welke kaart de speler van het hoofdbord mag pakken, hangt af van de locatiewaar de speler het fiche plaatst en welk nummer het fiche bevat. Plaats je een fiche met nummer 2 onderaan het bord in delinkerkolom, dan moet je de twee kaart van onderen in deze kolom pakken. De actiefiches blijven de hele ronde liggen, dus spelersdwarsbomen elkaar goed in dit spel. Het is dus nog aardig puzzelen om de juiste kaarten te pakken te krijgen!
Verworven kaarten gaan spelers in hun landschap of weide plaatsen in verschillende kolommen en rijen. Op de kaarten staanverschillende symbolen opgenomen en de punten die je met het spelen van een kaart verdiend. Deze symbolen geven aan welkesymbolen je al in je weide of landschap aanwezig moet hebben om deze kaart te kunnen spelen en wat de gespeelde kaartvervolgens zelf te bieden heeft. Grondsoortkaarten kun je overigens altijd spelen om een nieuwe kolom van kaarten te starten. Hebje de vereiste symbolen dan mag je een kaart op een van je kolommen plaatsen. Door kaarten te plaatsen bedek je wel weer anderekaarten en dus ook symbolen. Door het spelen van kaarten ontstaan er dus meerdere kolommen en veranderen symbolen in jeweide constant. Naast het verwerven van kaarten is het efficient plaatsen van kaarten dus ook een leuke puzzel.
Indien je actiefiches op het bord met het kampvuur plaatst, kun je andere acties verrichten. Zo kun je bijvoorbeeld landschapsegelskopen (om zo meer landschapskaarten te kunnen spelen) of twee kaarten tegelijkertijd spelen. Hiernaast bevat het landschapsbordook bepaalde doelen. Er worden namelijk verschillende fiches met symbolen rondom het kampvuur geplaatst. Liggen er in jouwweide twee aangrenzende symbolen die ook om het kamvuur liggen, dan mag je een doel vervullen. Dit levert punten op aan heteinde van het spel.
Meadow is een prachtig vormgegeven spel. De illustraties zijn heerlijk om naar te kijken en enorm kleurrijk. Het spel ziet er daardooral uit als een lust voor het oog en springt hierdoor van de tafel. Net alsof je lekker in de natuur bent en alle kleuren om je heen ziet.Verder is het spel een rustgevende, maar toch zeer interactieve puzzel om de juiste kaarten te bemachtigen en te spelen. In onseerste potje wist mijn tegenstander, door goed op mij te letten, de kaart weg te pakken die ik nodig had voor de overwinning. Lekkersamen de glooiende weide in zonder hooikoorts!

Fortunately, I can now also visit the meadow in a board game in Meadow (what’s in a name?) by @ rebelstudio.eu! This beautiful game is coming soon and the publisher has given me the opportunity to test a preview copy of the game! So the version that will eventually hit stores will be slightly different!
In Meadow, players collect cards to add to their pasture and the landscape beyond to earn the most points. The game consists of different rounds and actions taken by players, depending on the number of players. Each round, players take turns taking actions by placing one of their action tokens on one of the two game boards. Each tile has 2 actions corresponding to 1 of the 2 boards. For example, a player must properly estimate which action he or she wants to use when. If you play an action on the main board, you can no longer use this chip this round for the other board.
If players are allowed to place their action chip on the main board, they take a card and add that card to their hand and if possible they may then also play a card. Which card the player may take from the main board depends on where the player places the token and what number the token contains. If you place a chip with number 2 at the bottom of the board in the left column, you must take the two card from the bottom in this column. The action chips remain in place for the entire round, so players have a good cross-border in this game. So it is quite a puzzle to get the right cards!
Acquired cards are placed by players in their landscape or pasture in different columns and rows. The cards contain various symbols and the points you earn by playing a card. These symbols indicate which symbols you must already have in your meadow or landscape to be able to play this card and what the played card itself has to offer. You can always play soil type cards to start a new column of cards. If you have the required symbols, you may place a card on one of your columns. By placing cards you cover other cards and therefore also symbols. By playing cards, multiple columns are created and symbols in your meadow are constantly changing. In addition to acquiring cards, placing cards efficiently is also a fun puzzle.
If you place action tokens on the board with the campfire, you can perform other actions. For example, you can buy landscape tiles (to be able to play more landscape cards) or play two cards at the same time. In addition, the landscape board also contains certain goals. Different tokens with symbols are placed around the campfire. If there are two adjacent symbols in your meadow that also surround the comb fire, you may fulfill a goal. This earns points at the end of the game.
Meadow is a beautifully designed game. The illustrations are wonderful to look at and very colorful. The game therefore already looks like a feast for the eyes and jumps off the table. Just like being in nature and seeing all the colors around you. Furthermore, the game is a soothing, yet highly interactive puzzle to get hold of and play the right cards. In our first game, my opponent, by paying close attention to me, managed to take away the card I needed for the win. Enjoy the sloping meadow together without hay fever!
