I have noticed a lot of different websites that people use and wanted to get some info.

what are the best & reasonably priced web hosting sites for a .com site?

what about site software? I do not know HTML code so I can't write my own, could learn, but dont want to. are there free sites that could help or would it be better to pay for the software?

anyway here's my questions:
1- do you recommend a hosting site? why/why not?
2- do you recommend a particular software program? why/why not?
3- with all of these how are the prices for upkeep?
4- how simple are they to update yourself?
(I've seen some that you are charged by the creator to update your site)

If your looking for free sites, try geocities, homestead, freeweb.

Each one has web building software (WYSIWYG -- What You See Is What You Get is what they are called).

You can also sign up for their paid version to have a real domain name and no ads on the site.

I want to be able to create a site that the address is www.****.com

I have used geocities in the past and did not like it.
I have seen some that use the Microsoft Office Live as well
If I have to register my domain name that is fine, but I think I can create it myself. I just did not want to have to write the code to do it.

I can give you some hints, tips, and techniques to building your own site.

Check out siteground.com for hosting packages, probably the most reasonable GOOD hosting site...they are not all created equally....

I use homestead for ours.. We have the paid version so no pop ups or anything like that

www.outwesthounds.com

the only thing about it I don't like is it doesn't have the scrolling pages where I can put more then one hound on it. So I use one page per dog and ad a lot of pictures to fill up the space

But it is really easy to use and I have contact homestead with questions before and they get back to you really quick..

I use Tripod and highly recommend it. The free one will cause your address to be http://***.tripod.com Ours is $9 a month and it can be www.***.com. I made it myself and keep it updated. It's very simple, in my opinion. I have tried other sites, and this was my favorite. It's very user friendly.

I used office live for both of mine

the Appalachian Houndsmen Assoc.

and the one I just started last Thursday

www.melrosemtnhounds.com

both are free and very easy to do yourself.

Are you looking for your kennel or for the "Southern Bluetick Assoc". If you are doing the Southern Bluetick I would recommend you go through coondawgs.com and let him set up for you. That way you can have the forum on the site.

He did the South Carolina Coonhunters Assoc. site.
